2022 Salomon Snowboards Overview

Trojan WSS is excited to be introducing you to some of Solomon's snowboards for the coming Australian winter. With humble origins in 1947 as a small wood saw and ski edges' workshop in the french alps, Salomon has grown to be a global leader in the snow sports and outdoor sector. When they started making snowboards back in 1997, they already had decades of experience creating some of the best skis, so it's no surprise that they make some excellent snowboards. To top it off, they have a great team of riders promoting the brand and inspiring the next generation of riders. This year we have a great selection of Salomon boards coming in time for winter. Read on to discover some of the gems in their lineup.

Men's Snowboards

Salomon The Villain Snowboard

The Villain Snowboard is one of the most popular boards in their lineup, and for a good reason. This true twin freestyle park board has the ideal flex and camber profile for locking in on rails, flexing into presses, buttering and popping. Rock Out Camber is flat between your feet for stability, has camber around the feet for response and control and rocker in the nose/tail for pressing/catch-free riding. The Quadralizer sidecut is perfect for high-speed carving and offers excellent edge control. Tuned with a 3-degree edge bevel between bindings and 2-degrees in critical zones, this board is catch-free on rails whilst maintaining grip on the snow. All this makes an excellent freestyle board for anyone from beginner to advanced looking for a playful high-performance ride.

Salomon Huck Knife Pro Snowboard

Salomon's Huck Knife Pro is another strong park contender. Whereas the Villain had rocker in the nose and tail, the Huck Knife Pro has predominantly camber with small rocker zones at the contact points. You're trading in a bit of playfulness for extra pop/responsiveness and precision. However, to keep things more forgiving than traditional camber, Salomon has blended different camber radiuses, so you get the reactivity you want from the camber in a friendlier package. The EQ Rad sidecut combines straight lines and radial curves for agility and fun, whilst the board has the same Freestyle EB edge tuning mentioned above for catch-free rail riding and grip when you need it in turns. So if you're an intermediate to advanced rider looking for a board to handle higher speeds and huck bigger features, this should be at the top of your list.

Salomon Assassin Pro Snowboard

With a similar Rock Out Camber profile and Quadralizer sidecut as the Villain mentioned above, the Assassin Pro is a versatile all-mountain directional twin for the rider that likes to do it all. Camber and flat between your feet creates Responsiveness/Pop, and the rocker in the nose/tail creates float in powder and pressability. The directional twin shape is ideal for freestyle riding, but the directional flex is optimal for power, and the set-back stance will improve float on powder days. Compared to the previous boards on the list, the Assassin Pro has been tuned with a 2-degree bevel between the feet and 1-degree in critical parts of the sidecut, meaning you have excellent grip and edging control minimising hang-ups in the park. The Assassin Pro is perfect for any intermediate to advanced snowboarders wanting all-terrain versatility.

Women's Snowboards

Salomon Lotus Womens Snowboard

The Salomon Lotus features a mellow flex, flat out camber profile and bite-free edges ideal for newcomers and jibbers on a budget. The board is a directional twin making it suitable for all-terrain freestyle riding, and the classic radial sidecut provides a consistent response. Salomon has delivered a great value board with plenty of features above its price point, making it ideal for newcomers to have fun and progress.

Salomon Wonder Womens  Snowboard

The Salomon Wonder is aboard for all the explorers out there. A combination of directional twin shape and Rock Out Camber is perfect for a wide range of riding styles and terrain. With a flat zone underfoot and camber past the bindings, this board has plenty of pop and control, yet the rocker in the nose/tail will help keep you afloat in powder, improve your pressing in the park and enhance playfulness. The EQ Rad sidecut combines straight lines and radial curves for agility and fun, while all-mountain EB edge tuning delivers strong edge hold without unnecessary hang-ups. The Wonder is the perfect companion to an intermediate to advanced rider hitting various terrain, and the graphics are one of our favourites in the 2022 lineup.

Salomon Gypsy Womens  Snowboard

The Gypsy is a true twin freestyle park board with the ideal flex and camber profile for locking in on rails, flexing into presses, buttering and popping. Rock Out Camber includes rocker in the nose/tail for enhanced pressing/catch-free riding and camber/flat in the middle of the board for control and response. The Quadralizer sidecut offers excellent edge control and is perfect for caring at high speed. Tuned with a 3-degree edge bevel between bindings and 2-degrees in critical zones, this board is catch-free on rails whilst maintaining grip on the snow. All this makes an excellent freestyle board for anyone from beginner to advanced looking for a playful high-performance ride.

Salomon No Drama Womens  Snowboard

If you're a freestyle rider looking for more precision and responsiveness than the Gypsy, you should be looking at the No Drama Women's Snowboard. The No Drama replaces the Rock Out Camber seen on the Gypsy with a predominantly camber profile with small rocker zones at the contact points. This generates extra pop/responsiveness and precision, but the small rocker zones make the contact points less catchy. The EQ Rad sidecut combines straight lines and radial curves for agility and fun, whilst the board has the same Freestyle EB edge tuning mentioned for the Gypsy, allowing for fewer hang-ups on rails and grip when you need it in turns. If you're an intermediate to advanced rider looking to progress, then you'll have no dramas taking this board into bigger features and high-speed lines.

Salomon Pillow Talk Snowboard

A perfect board for all the powder enthusiasts out there. The Pillow Talk combines Rock Out Camber, a wider design and a tapered tail for massive floatation when the snow gets deep. Rock Out Camber profile combines the control of camber with the playfulness of rocker in the nose and tail. The stance has been centred on the effective edge, and combining this with the All-mountain EB edging tuning makes this board versatile in freeride and freestyle terrain. If you're an intermediate to advanced rider looking for a freeride board that's still capable in freestyle situations or you're planning a trip to Japan, this board is a great option.
